Design process

- A written cost estimate is sent, via email, prior to commencing any design work.
- Client sends through an order, via email, and a signed cost estimate/contract.
- Durban at design sends client the Deposit Invoice, and this gets paid by client as proof of go-ahead of the design work.
- Durban at design will request that client fill out a Questionnaire which helps with the design process to design to target the intended market. (Also, the more information you give me, the more I understand what you want design-wise and this makes for a quicker design process and saves you money)
- Durban at design spends time researching so that this media/design will work for client's target market.
- Then, continue as follows depending on design work needed...

2 - Then one of the following process’s depending on the project.

2a - WEB SITE DESIGN
- Text and images are gathered.
- Durban at design can also help you setting up Hosting - remember hosting should be a minor cost, don’t over pay - Design & build website prototype
- Present test link design to client
- Making client-requested changes
- Client approves design after changes
- There are normally a couple of rounds of edits and changes
- Launch website

2b - LOGO DESIGN
- Design & build logo prototypes
- Present a number of prototype logos to client in a PDF document
- Client chooses logo and re-design/edits are done to chosen ones
- Again, I present a number of prototype logos to client in a PDF document
- Client approves design after changes
- There are normally a couple of rounds of edits and changes
- Supply logo in file formats as needed.

2c - PRINT MEDIA (BROCHURE, BOOK, POST CARD, ETC) DESIGN
- Text and images are gathered
- Design print media prototypes.
- Present a prototype design to client in a PDF document
- Client sends through edits, etc.
- Again, I present a design to client in a PDF document
- Client approves design after changes
- There are normally a couple of rounds of edits and changes
- Supply print media in format for printer.

2d - OTHER DESIGN MEDIA FOLLOWS A SIMILAR PATTERN AS ABOVE.

Fine print

a - Prices are guaranteed for 30 days from submission unless noted.
b - Billing: Month end on certain projects I will progress bill.
c - DELIVERY - 10 to 15 working days from go ahead.
d - Printing - I have a preferred printer but I can work along with your printer.
e - Terms: 50% Payment up front and balance on completion or by arrangement. (Artwork remains the property of Durban at design until paid for in full.) Late payments will be charge with interest. References available on request.
f - Cancellation of project - if a client cancels or rejects the project once email approval of the contract has been received, then they forfeit their deposit, and any rights to the materials or files. I also reserve the right to bill for any hours worked above and beyond the deposit amount.
g - All text to be supplied in a word document, or the like edited, spell checked and ready to work with.
h - This cost estimate excludes any meetings held subsequent to the initial meeting held to discuss and establish design and concepts unless noted in the estimate. Meetings are billed at the hourly studio design rate.
i - Should the brief change during the design process you will be contacted with the additional estimated costs.
j - This cost estimate excludes outsourced expenses such as photography, repro and print unless otherwise indicated
